The forum is made up of eight junior doctors; four FY1s and four FY2s. Our job is to represent the voice of junior doctors at Bucks Healthcare Trust. We act as a bridge between the trainees and the Foundation School to ensure ideas and concerns are raised at a high level.
Meet this year's forum
Rory Houston
I am an FY1 in Buckinghamshire Trust, my rotations this year are Respiratory, MFOP and Trauma and Orthopaedics. I studied undergraduate medicine at the University of Bristol.
I am very excited to be part of the Foundation Forum and hope that through working with like minded colleagues we can improve the experience new doctors have during their foundation years. Georgie Torlot
I'm an FY1 doctor currently working in Medicine for the Older Person at Wycombe hospital. My other rotations this year are Anaesthetics/ITU and General surgery. I previously studied at Bristol University before coming to the Oxford deanery.
I have a keen interest in teaching and training and wanted to be involved with the foundation forum as I feel it is very important that trainees are supported and represented in their early years of training when their experiences may have an everlasting effect on their future careers. I am excited to be involved with the forum's 2nd annual Quality Improvement conference later this year, to see other trainee’s new projects and ideas. |
Georgie Phillips
I am an FY1 doctor. This year I am working in Derm/Rheum, Trauma and
Orthopaedics and General Surgery. I studied medicine at Imperial College. I am very excited about my year on the Foundation Forum as I feel it is a great opportunity to act as a voice for my fellow trainees. We have some great projects planned which we hope will improve the foundation year experience for doctors working in our trust. Andy Catton
My name is Dr Andy Catton and I am an FY1 doctor at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. I am currently working on my endocrine rotation before moving on to MFOP. I have just finished my surgical rotation at SMH and Wycombe Hospital.
I studied Medicine as a graduate entry student at the University of Southampton with previous degrees at Bristol and Liverpool. I am also a Lieutenant in the British Army Reserve. I jumped at the chance to be part of the foundation forum and represent my fellow colleagues. I have carried out an audit and this made changes to the induction week on your feedback. We hope you all can come to us for any problems big and small as we always have an open ear and shoulder to cry on after a long on call shift. |
Rhiannon Evans
I am an FY2 doctor, I am currently working in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, my other rotations this year include Paediatrics, and Trauma and Orthopaedics.
My FY1 year was at the John Radcliffe and Churchill hospital in Oxford. I studied at the University of Cambridge (Pre-clinical) and University College London (Clinical). I was keen to become involved with the foundation forum this year in order to try and implement changes to the foundation training in order to improve the learning experience for foundation doctors now and in the future. I look forward to the 2nd annual conference in June as a platform for foundation doctors to demonstrate their commitment to quality improvement in healthcare. Hussam Rostom
I am an FY2 doctor based in the Bucks trust, having undertaken my FY1 year in Oxford. I did my undergraduate training and Oxford and Cambridge, and am looking to do medical training.
My interest is teaching and training, and I became involved in the forum in order to improve training for foundation year doctors, as well as to increase teaching opportunities for trainees. |
Mira Manoharan
My name is Dr Mirajini Manoharan and I am an FY2 currently working in Trauma and Orthopaedics. My rotations this year are GP, T&O and Elderly Care.
I was a member of the Forum last year at the John Radcliffe and enjoyed the process so much that I came back for a second run this year. My main aim is to engage as many Foundation Doctors in to the process of our training and teaching as possible. Particularly the aspects of our training which are not working, because I firmly believe we can only inspire change if many of us get involved. Lydia van Hamel-Parsons
I am an FY2 doctor. This year I'm working in Respiratory, General Practice and Spinal.
Last year I worked at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford; I studied medicine at the University of Southampton. I wanted to be part of the Foundation Forum because I strongly believe that if you want to see change, you have to speak up, and the forum is the ideal opportunity to do this for myself and for other trainees. |
